Fletcher Benton (1931- )

After receiving his B.F.A. from Miami University Benton, a native of Jackson, Ohio, moved to San Francisco where he gained an international reputation as a teacher and as a pioneering kinetic sculptor and where he developed his celebrated alphabet series. His large-scale outdoor sculptures in painted steel are in major collections throughout the United States and abroad. Benton has been honored by the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters for his distinguished service to the arts.
